Do a "fake out" to make and keep friends - ADHD Dude - Ryan Wexelblatt

NEW DUDE TALK VIDEO
A lot of dudes with ADHD struggle with showing an interest in others, despite the fact they may want and value friendships. They may not understand that to cultivate and build friendships you need to show an interest in what others are talking about as well as some of their interests. Furthermore you need to relate to others' experiences and show interest in their experiences. (This is an area I always assess as part of the Social Thinking Informal Assessment® when I work with kids individually.)
I created this video to teach the concept of doing a "fake out" which is a term to help understand the importance of showing an interest in what others are talking about as well as their interests, even if you're not truly interested.
When I teach this concept to guys I always give them examples of how I would do a "fake out" at their particular age and how this helped me to cultivate friendships.
